Celebration of Prayer - COP
We have the Power. We need to Connect!

The church is God's instrument for saving a lost and dying world. This was the plan when the church was "invented" in the book of Acts, and unless we have missed a new, God-issued set of marching orders, this is still His plan today. The endeavors of the church must be effective if the world is to be reached. But in most cases, the church is not having a great impact on local communities. We are sophisticated and complicated and organized and diverse, but few church are very effective. We are not winning the world through the truth of the gospel. The world is as lost today as it has ever been. So, what is the answer? Why aren't we making more of a difference?

For many of us, we can remember the fires that were ignited when we first became Christians. There was a passion and excitement about our service to the Lord through our churches. We were motivated by a new found love for God and we sought to be obedient to the call of Jesus Christ on our lives. We were

empowered by our faith and encouraged in our service. But somehow, over time, that enthusiasm has faded. We love the Lord no less, but our excitement seems diminished. We want to regain the energy that we once had, but we seem to have lost the power.

Many have lost sight of their vision and their reason for being and simply don't know what to do to get back on track. Often, the busyness of our church life is more a part of the problem than a part of the solution. What has gone wrong? How can we slow the treadmill and get back to a meaningful and significant life course? How can we deepen our spiritual roots? How can we revitalize our commitment to Christ and re-energize our spiritual batteries?

The answer lies in reexamining our life motives, our priorities and our commitments. We need to regroup. God has promised to provide us with everything that we need to accomplish His purposes. He is our power source. He is the one that keeps us on track and he stimulates our energy. How do we tap into that power? There is a course of action that we must follow as individuals and in our churches to plug in. We must go back to the basics. We must reattach the power source.

A word about the Celebration of Prayer event from Atco Presbyterian Church:

Fantastic, tremendous, awesome. Words will not describe it. But four first time commitments to Jesus, 50 recommitments to Him and 36 interested in joining small groups sure do make all the effort worthwhile. I may be physically tired but I sure am on a spiritual high.
