LRM: Heritage Workshop

If we fail to plan the heritage we give, we are planning to fail to pass a heritage. The partnership of LRM and Heritage was formed in an effort to reach individual churches across the country with a dynamic event designed to change the lifestyles of parents, grandparents and teachers. As more individuals and churches discover how to be intentional rather than accidental in the heritage process, the foundation for the next generation is laid.

Amidst the vast array of books and programs available to families and churches today, what makes the Heritage Workshop unique? The answer is found in exploring the structure of the Heritage Workshop

First of all, the workshop helps the participants understand the components of an effective heritage. The three cords of the spiritual, emotional and social heritage are closely tied together, supporting and strengthening one another. While learning these components, the participants then take the time to review and discuss the heritage they have received. This process helps to build a sense of togetherness and creates a uniting purpose for the participants for the future.

The tool chest of the Heritage Workshop includes: Family Compass, Family Fragrance, Family Traditions and Family Moments. Interaction can be a key element of this portion as the participants talk with one another and work together in family night activities.

The Heritage Workshop allows us to take the time to look back at our past and motivates us as we look ahead into the future. We strive to become intentional rather than accidental. Unity is built as we work together to reach future generations.

Workshop Costs

Every participant will receive an interactive manual for use during the workshop.

$200 deposit to secure a date and an event coordinator
$300 additional fee due at the time of the event. Please note -- A good group size is 50 people for a Heritage Workshop. This allows for better group participation and sharing.
Travel and lodging expenses for the coordinator.
A book table of Heritage Resources will be shipped to the church at no charge. These resources are then available for purchase at the event. Return shipping is the responsibility of the church.

To be the best stewards of your budgeted dollars, be sure to coordinate the travel plans of your Heritage Workshop Coordinator(s) far enough in advance that they can obtain the best fares for travel to your church. As a rule of thumb, for distances traveled over 250 miles each way, the Coordinator(s) will usually fly to your town. For shorter distances, the Coordinator(s) will usually drive and your church will be charged a travel allowance of 25 cents per mile.

Book Table

A book table with Heritage Resources will be sent to the church to be made available to participants during the workshop. The books will be priced at LRM's standard discount of 20% off the regular retail prices.

Schedule

The Heritage Workshop offers a very flexible schedule which every church may adjust to assure maximum effectiveness for their situation. A minimum of seven hours is needed for the full workshop. A very effective schedule would be setup as follows?

Hosting a Motivational Heritage Workshop

The Heritage Workshop teaches attendees the principles and tools for passing a solid heritage and helps them create a highly practical action plan for doing so. Using various lengths and formats, the workshop can be adapted to large group gatherings, weekend retreats or single day seminars.

After the Heritage Workshop

Implement a Sunday School or Weekday Night teaching time and use the Building a Heritage curriculum. As the adults are working through the curriculum, have them use the Family Night Tool Chest books at home with their families. As you meet each week for class, share both the positive and negative experiences of the home time.
When the curriculum has been completed, the Network Facilitator can form Family Teams with those who have gone through the class. The teams can continue to meet and share as small groups, growing and learning from one another.
Repeat the process with a new Heritage Workshop or class!

What is the Heritage Builders Association?

The Heritage Builders Association began in 1995 when three fathers with a passion for the next generation produced the first in a line of resources designed to help parents become intentional about building a strong family heritage. They had no idea of just how enthusiastic the response to their concepts would be. Thousands of parents have since used the Heritage principles as a framework for intentionally creating a lasting legacy with their children. The Heritage Builders Association was launched to support this growing movement -- providing training and practical resources for those who have realized that a solid family legacy will not happen by accident. The concepts developed by the Heritage Builders Association have been endorsed and featured by such prominent organizations as Focus on the Family, Family Life Ministries, Christian Broadcasting Network's "700 Club", Promise Keepers and others.
